Last of the Brunnen G, a race of philosophers destroyed by His Shadow.  It was foretold by the Time Prophet that the Brunnen G would kill His Shadow and destroy the Divine Order.  But in their first battle with His Shadow, all the Brunnen G were killed, except for Kai.  Kai was captured and brought to His Shadow, who then killed him.  His Shadow, being the egomaniacal tyrant that he was, decided to turn Kai's body over to his Bio-Scholars to make Kai into a Divine Assassin (well, he is certainly divine, and he is an assassin).  For 2,000 years, kept alive by protoblood and without his memories, Kai killed many people, innocent and guilty, at the command of His Shadow.  But when Zev and Stan stole the LEXX, Kai, in his function as Divine Assassin, was on board.  The Divine Predecessors were also on board.  Kai destroyed one of the Divine Predecessors, coincidentally the one who had killed him.  In doing so, Kai not only regained his memory but the memories of all those killed by that Divine Predecessor.  Kai is now helping Xev and Stan find a home, after which he hopes to be allowed to run out of protoblood peacefully and no longer be animate.  He now only kills when he believes it is justified.

Kai doing a Hamlet thing.  "Alas poor Predecessors, I knew them Your Shadow?"  Not quite.
