88 Years!

Yay White Sox! Once the Yankees were eliminated in the ALDS, I was hoping the White Sox would win the World Series. I bet the White Sox will now gain a lot of fans in Chicago who previously were either Cubs fans or didn't care. But they deserve it.

With the Red Sox ending their 86-year drought last year and the White Sox ending their 88-year drought this year, how long before the Cubs finally win another World Series?

BTW, I predicted this in the beginning of July. One of the guys that works for me IMed me while I was in London. We were joking around about my ability to call things, and he asked me who would win the World Series. I replied "The Chicago White Sox. You heard it here first."

Woooo Hoooo! We're whooping it up and heaving a collective sigh of relief at the same time. Some, who've been in bars all night, are just plain heaving. Oh well, their problem, not mine. Leslie, you should definitely get at least a part-time gig as a psychic.

The staff at Chicago-based Buzzflash.com, which is a somewhat (?!) left-leaning site that has links to all kinds of news and commentary (hyperlinked with a delicious snarkiness and sometimes anger), has several links tonight to stories and commentary about the (white) elephant in the living room - which is that the Houston Astros, without a single African-American on their team, were swept by one of the most racially and culturally diverse teams around. Hmmmmm.

Anyway, I'm pleased to know that while I was glued to my set in Oak Park, you were watching with me in New York. Good luck for you and your Yankees next year. Peace..... Rob
