Try This Out

Do a Google search on the word "failure" and see the results. Something rather curious happens.

Yes, but if you type in "miserable failure" the #1 slot belongs to someone else.

Heh...

I still get W.

It's the war of the Google Bombs. The bombers trying to get Michael Moore to appear in the top slot have lost the most recent skirmish. Although the tides of war can yet turn.

Jon, is it really that hard living with the fact that the best Democrat candidates couldn't beat him? Twice?

Huh?

Look, actually knowing Jon, which most of the rest of you don't, I doubt his post was motivated by what you're ascribing to him. I suspect he either typed the word "failure" in to search for something else and was surprised by the results or read a post by someone else who participated in the Google Bomb. You can obviously ascertain that Jon himself never participated in the Google Bomb. You can't find a post on this blog that has the word "failure" hyperlinked to GWB's bio. There was nothing particularly triumphant in the tone of this post either.

In any event, he was most probably just passing along something he found interesting and/or amusing that he thought others might not know of. Personally, I find the entire thing rather amusing as well. That people go and waste their time on something as meaningless as Google-bombing George W. Bush and Michael Moore to link them with the word "failure" strikes me as funny. Look, I don't lay claim to not wasting my time on the trivial, because I most definitely do, but come on.

Well, since I've been a regular in here since the beginning, I've read probably 99% of all Jon's posts and over these years I've gotten to "know" him in a sense. I know a fair ammount of his interests and how he feels on certain issues/topics. Quite often he is the polar opposite of me, but on occasion we'll agree on something.

One thing I know with 100% certainty is his feelings towards Bush. On some occasions, I'll agree with him. I'm pretty damn certain that his special "love" of GWB fueled his desire to post about his Google findings. But...your excuse about him innocently/accidentally finding Bush associated with "failure" on Google? Please spare me..I'm not 'that' naive.

Also...and I know you'll love this too- I know this 'cause over the past five years or so I've gotten to know you too- maybe you should let Jon stand up for himself and fight his own battles. Yes, I know this is your blog and you rule with an Iron fist, but he's a big boy and can defend himself.

(puts on helmet, waiting for incoming bombs with my name on them)

Well, I best step up and defend myself. Everything you say is off base Randy. A colleague told me yesterday to go to Google and search on the word failure. He didn't tell me why. I was stunned and perplexed by the results. I didn't laugh or think, "Right on." It didn't even occur to me that it was a Google bomb until Lesely mentioned it. I couldn't fathom how it could happen. I posted it not to gloat - there is nothing gloating in the tone - but to point out something odd and interesting.

Well, Randy, since he's my brother and I've known him his entire life, maybe I actually do know him, and you actually don't. No matter how long you've been reading the blog. You say you're not that naive, so spare me the BS that having read his posts for a couple of years, you somehow know him. That's just ludicrous. Obviously he doesn't like Bush. But that doesn't motivate everything he writes. And, again, what with me knowing him, I have a much better sense of his tone. I've actually heard him speak words. You have not. And I accurately interpreted the post. You did not.

As for my "excuse", maybe you're not naive, but you also don't know what the fuck you're talking about here. Period, the end.

And, yes, Jon can defend himself. But if people want to come to my virtual living room and insult my brother, they best either expect me to defend him or just not come to my virtual living room anymore. I'm so sure that you would let others insult your family members in front of you. Well, maybe you would. I really don't know. But I, obviously, would not. And it's really just too fucking bad if someone who isn't a member of my family has a problem with that.
