Right On, Florida!

It's about damn time someone took the growing threat of kindergarteners seriously. Too bad the wimpy prosecutors decided against filing charges.*

*Yeah, hi, in case any of you can't figure it out, I'm being sarcastic. So no stupid comments, please.

This is a state full of morons who keep getting wiped out by hurricanes and then rebuild in the same place. Nothing intelligent ever happens there.

There was quite a bit more in the local coverage: the officer that responded was relatively new, and did his best to do what he was trained to do, which is take control of the situation and prevent injury to anyone - the girl, himself, or innocent bystanders. Hence the handcuffs and leg restraints, since the girl was kicking and striking out at anyone who came close. The school had what is called a school resource officer, who is pretty much a cop who is always on the school grounds in case of any emergency, but for some reason he was not called; he admitted, being more familiar with the kids and their behavior, he would have probably handled it differently. What the girl got, in essence, was a time out, reinforced by the restraints.

Oh, and a personal note to Jim: not the way to make a sale, pal.

I'm a little frustrated right now over this whole Terry Shiavo thing, Bear.

It seems like Florida is continually the progenitor of one peripheral issue after another that all take the focus off bigger things going wrong in the world (and humanity in general).. in essence resulting in--deliberately or not--substantial neglect and misprioritization.

That said I used very poor language in venting whatever disaffection or frustration is or isn't justified accordingly. In my own defense I did say "full of" and not "entirely full of." You know how much I respect your considerable intellect and political acumen.. in addition to valuing your friendship.

Here's what I really meant to say...

Florida is a beautiful place with many beautiful if sometimes somewhat misguided souls. From what I understand it's very reasonably affordable as well, so even if one did have to rebuild after a hurricane or any other natural catastrophe, the economy would seem to be more than conducive to weathering the calamities time and time again. Factoring in the fraternal political quotient which generously bequeaths additional benefits from sources that are well known, and a reasonable assumption might incorporate the view denizens from the 'sunshine state' are a far cry from simple or inane.

I would actually consider moving to South Beach (the most hurricane susceptable region incidentally) if all of my family weren't in the Seattle area. Both the climate and the nightlife are better suited to me than that of Seattle. I therefore suppose you can factor an element of envy into my earlier ill-conceived remarks.

Anyway had I remembered you live approximate in Ponce De Leon's old stomping grounds I wouldn't have made the comment... I shouldn't have made it anyway, it was uncalled for and I certainly apologize.

I never claimed to be Zeig Zeigler.

(Note also I'm currently sampling various conconctions for the benefit of medical science which may cause the impairment of otherwise immaculate faculties).

I can't figure out why the school called the police in the first place. Five-year-olds do throw temper tantrums, kicking and striking out all the while. It happens every day. It's not news. This instance is only news because the police were called.

So no stupid comments, please.

Then what do you leave me with?

Your usual witty comments, of course.
