Who's With Me?

Ladies, I've been thinking a bit about the latest round of "pondering" about where are all the women bloggers, and I've decided it's time we do something about it. Ilyka is right. We can't make the big boy bloggers link to us, but we can boost our own traffic by linking to each other. I'm not just talking about blogrolls either (although I seriously updated mine today). I'm talking about a concerted effort, a la the Progressive Blog Alliance, to do link roundup posts of female bloggers.

I'm going to start with this one, which will be a link roundup of reactions to "Where are you poor little women?"

What She Said

Echidne of the Snakes

Elayne Riggs

Ayn Clouter

Roxanne

Chloe

Media Girl

Feministe

Avedon Carol

Brutal Women

Random Thoughts

Trish Wilson

Meryl Yourish

If I've missed any (and I'm sure I have), let me know. Future link roundups will feature more variety of topic.

UPDATE: Ha! I never read Random Thoughts before, so, based on some links, I assumed Jay Rosen was a woman. Well, he's not. Thanks to Trish Wilson for indirectly setting me straight. But hey, he had some good things to say.

UPDATE TO THE UPDATE: Never mind, I'm an idiot. My most profuse and abject apologies to Kathy (not Jay Rosen), who is most definitely a woman.

YET ANOTHER UPDATE: More reactions.

A Small Victory

Victory Soap (this one made me laugh out loud)

Mad Kane

Kesher Talk

Sisu

Lesley,

I saw your comment on Trish Wilson's blog, thanking her for "setting you straight on Random Thoughts".

NO! Please.

Random Thoughts is my blog. And yep, I'm a woman. I quote Jay Rosen in the header of my blog. He said something I liked, so I cited him as the author. So please don't consign me to the world of the male blogger. I kind of like it on the estrogen side of the wire.

All the links you listed are either already on my sidebar blogroll or on my Bloglines "Gals in Waiting" section, some of which I will incorporate onto my sidebar (at the rate of maybe one or two a week) during March, Women's History Month, based on voting by readers of my blog. Way I figure it, people love participatory stuff like that, so it's a fun way to do stuff I was going to do anyway...

Oh, and if it's okay, I'd rather you used this post as your link than the one you have up now...

Okay, all updates made!

Hey, I put this post of yours into The Gender Genie, and the genie thinks your a man too.
What a crock, huh?
At least you're not getting fortune cookies that call you a man. haha.

Oh yeah, that thing thinks I'm a man based on my writing about 60% of the time. What I find fascinating is that one of the feminine keywords it looks for when trying to figure out if the writer is a man or a woman is "him". Apparently, I just don't write enough about men to be recognized as a woman.

Oh, but it doesn't look for "her" as a male keyword.

You know, I was just saying to my friend who has a journal, and also comes up as a man... that I think the Gender Genie is gender biased. That little "him" & "her" thing certainly is evidence!!!

Just goes to show! There is no real difference across the board!

Can I be the token male?

I am sure you all could use a useful cabana boy. ;-)

Thanks so much for linking to my Dull Drum Beat poem!
