But so long Jaret Wright? Seems that Wright has failed his physical with the Yankees. Can't say that I'd be too upset if the deal falls through, but it will leave the Yankees in a bind now that they let Jon Lieber walk. They still have at least two holes to fill in the rotation, and given their strategy of going with young power arms, I don't know where they turn next.
They've sure signed on two fantasy baseball premium guys (folks who had one great season during their free agent years, with nothing else in their careers to point to as being worthy of such money).
If not Pavano, I don't know who else they could have gone after. The Diamondbacks want way too much for Johnson. Letting Lieber go in favor of getting Wright was a big mistake. Tim Hudson would be great, but the Yankees don't have any talent that the A's would be interested in. Giambi? I don't think so. They do need one more pitcher and maybe they can still get Milton at a reasonable price. I also think that they need to get Beltran. He might be a luxury for a year or two, but after that he becomes a necessity as Bernie gets too old and or breaks down physically. Well, those are my two cents worth.
