Friday Cat Blogging
A congruence of events leads me to participate in Friday Cat Blogging today.
- It's Friday.
- I can't think of anything else to blog about.
- My Mom sent me a picture of their cat, Marmelade, taken with the digital camera we bought my Dad for his birthday.

- A funny thing happened with one of my cats, Jane, yesterday. I was taking a shower. Jane was in her usual spot, between the shower curtain and the liner, when suddenly I feel a big furry lump at my feet. Yes, she fell into the bathtub. Surprisingly she did not freak out and start scratching and clawing, frantically trying to get out of the hated water. She merely calmly walked to the end of the tub and jumped out. She then proceeded to clean herself. Too bad she hadn't let me know in advance that she wanted to take a shower. I'd have let her use some of my cinnamon-scented body wash.

Lesley, I had a cat (she died last October at age 15) and she used to get between the shower curtain and liner too - for every shower without exception. She would bat her paw around the curtain which was a signal that she wanted to be patted (even though my hand was wet). I miss that old girl. One time she ended up in my shower too, but the other cat knocked her in. My ankles and lower legs were torn to shreds that day, lol.

I'm sorry to hear she died, Anne. I'm sure you miss her very much.
My other cat, Emma, would never knock Jane in, because this would require Emma to get closer to water than she would ever want to get. She keeps a sensible distance away, only venturing to the side of the tub if the water isn't running. But believe me, if Emma ever wound up in the shower with me, my ankles and lower legs would suffer serious consequences. She hates getting wet with a passion normally reserved only for the vet.

Amy's a hydrophilic kitty - alas, Datsa isn't. My friend Leah's cat Tempest used to climb shower curtains all the time as a kitten, and she (um, Tempest, not Leah!) still likes to sleep in the sink and drink from the faucet when Leah turns the tap on.

That picture--! I'm pretty allergic to cats, although I had one for several years. (I took allergy pills all the time, too, but now I have 2 boys who also are allergic.) My cat Andrew ate phone cords, the squiggly ones. He was part Siamese and had a voice like a car alarm. I miss him.

Now that's what I call mugging for the camera. The (cute) little ham!
