Derek or Eric?
One of the things about me is that I tend to be rather off-beat in my entertainment tastes. Well, okay, I tend to be rather off-beat in general. But it occurs to me that I am something of a contrarian when it comes to generally accepted taste. Like that whole "Fun Boy Three vs. the Go-Gos" thing. But as I'm sitting here listening to Eric Clapton's Unplugged version of "Layla", I began to wonder. Which do people prefer? The original, faster Derek and the Dominoes version or the mellower, acoustic Clapton-by-himself Unplugged version? I vastly prefer the second. Contrarian or not?

I'm having a little trouble getting past the "Derek or Eric", seeing as Derek is Eric; however, I too, much prefer his MTV Unplugged version. That whole CD is fabulous! Wish he'd have worked "Change The World" into that set.

Well, yes, Derek and Eric are one and the same person, but the title referred to a preference for the Derek and the Dominoes version or the Eric Clapton Unplugged version of "Layla". And in a case like that, "or" is the proper conjunction.

I think ten years ago, I would have said the faster version but as I get older, I tend to like the mellower version because it has a mood.

I like him much better post clean-up.

My apologies, I didn't mean to imply the subject was wrong or inappropriate. I understood what was meant by the question. Ironically, or is exactly what Clapton would want to hear, seeing as it was a last second joke name which stuck with the hopes of providing him some anonymity. But I digress...
