Mikey's Ratings in the Trash
It is no surprise that Mikey's ratings have dropped to an all-time low of 24%. Unfortunately, like the trash on city streets, nobody is taking out the garbage. I wonder if the 24% approval comes from the rats, who must be the only ones pleased with the latest budget-cutting move - recyclables will now be picked up only every other week.
Those of you who are familiar with New York will understand the ramifications of this. The amount of trash produced in NYC is mind-boggling. Leaving it around to ferment in basements achieves nothing except allowing the city's already out-size rat population to grow even more. Then we'll have a public health hazard that will need to be dealt with, meaning more money will have to be spent on extermination. You see, these rats aren't your cute, friendly little rats that a cat can chase around and kill. These rats are bigger than cats. If you saw one move quickly, you might think a smallish dog had just run by. They also aren't your slink-around-by-night type of rats. The rats will be chasing the cats. In broad daylight.
Lovely. Just another reason I'm glad I moved out of the city.

Ah yes. NYC wildlife: rats and rats with wings (pigeons, for those of you in the heartland).
NYC does everything by extremes, so the rats and pigeons are huge, overpopulated and spread disease. But it's true that the rats are worse -- being carnivores, they attack people while pigeons don't.
And yes, like all NYC criminals, they're bold and fearless enough to attack in broad daylight. I'm in the Poconos, and even though there are so many deer I've started calling them rats with hooves, they're sure better than NYC's rats with nothing else.

But the rats and the pigeons provide protein-rich nutrients for our growing homeless population! Geez, sometimes you liberal ingrates amaze me...

We have fairly large rats here in Seattle, but nothing like the ones in New York. I don't think our rats have nearly the disease problem, either.
And the neighborhood cats have great sport in killing them. I always stop and say nice things to the kitties when I see them.
Likewise, I've seen homeless here killing pigeons and eating them. They make the most horrible little popping noise.

Hey they could pull a Cali, recall the incompetent boob.
Nah, voter responsibility is a foreign thought to far too many people.
Wonder why a foreigner seems poised to "win."

To the best of my knowledge, Justin, the City Charter does not allow for a recall of the mayor. Only the governor can remove the mayor, and only if the mayor is brought up on charges.

That's too bad, incompetance ought to be a high enough standard for throwing a bum out. But then the halls of government would probably be pretty empty. Not exactly an outcome I would object to.
Can you just charge him with being a fool? How about a static charge?
The statesman who should attempt to direct private people in what manner they ought to employ their capitals would not only load himself with a most unnecessary attention, but assume an authority which could safely be trusted, not only to no single person, but to no council or senate whatever, and which would nowhere be so dangerous as in the hands of a man who had folly and presumption enough to fancy himself fit to exercise it.
