Just Say No To The War On Drugs
Alex Knapp raises an excellent point regarding the diversion of law enforcement resources that could be used to fight terrorism to instead fighting drug trafficking. I'm thinking of some nifty new anti-war (that being war on drugs) slogans:
"Smoke Pot or the Terrorists Will WinTM"
"Policing with Bin Laden"
"Make Drugs Not War"
"Just Say Blow"

The drugs = terrorism campaign seems to have the message "grow your own"
The odd consequences of the war on drugs (those damn unintended consequenses)
In addition to hurting innocent people, this policy costs a lot of money, going well beyond the resources allocated to police, prosecutors, and prisons. The government estimates, for instance, that Americans spend between $50 billion and $100 billion a year on illegal drugs. Almost all of that spending is a cost of prohibition, since it represents the "risk premium" that criminals earn by supplying contraband.
This gift from the government enriches and empowers murderous thugs, subsidizes terrorism, and contributes to property crime by heavy users trying to support their habits. Since stolen goods typically are sold at a steep discount, their value far exceeds the already inflated cost of drugs.
A less quantifiable cost of prohibition is the erosion of civil liberties. In recent decades, the war on drugs has been the biggest factor undermining the Fourth Amendment's guarantee against "unreasonable searches and seizures." It also has threatened property rights through asset forfeiture and religious freedom through prohibition of drug rituals.

I went into some thought after watching the movie "Blow" and came up with a very good question if i might say so myself... If the cops and DEA and all these authoritive figures fight in this war on drugs and have been doing so for fucking ever, why the hell do they not just destroy the Kingpin, the big man running the show? I mean sure there are millions of people in the illegal drug industry, but if there were some REAL cops who were not corrupt, then that guy on that island in the middle of no where with cars, and girls and 100 dollar bills to wipe his ass with and men standing outside of his Mansion with illegal weapons and most importantly, all of the drugs that these "COPS" have supposedly been looking for for the past gazillion years, would have been DESTROYED and the war on drugs would just as simply been over. But since these kingpin guys are paying off these corrupt cops with ease, as well as most likely the entire government because you know our government loves money, the war on drugs will for sure continue...It's been a lost cause since the beginning...Tell me that if you were offered more money than you've made in your lifetime to just keep your mouth closed, would you not accept the offer? I can guarantee that the pope himself wouldn't turn down the offer...Now can someone please tell me why the main man can't simply be sniped off? Is there really that many corrupt cops?
